I found Karen @ Desert Springs when I was searching for a beautician to provide treatments for my girlfriends and I for my hen day in Spain. We met up before the day to discuss my requirements, and I also found out that she did bridal make too. Karen arranged the whole hen day for us and always went the extra mile to get me exactly what I wanted, and the make up she did was beautiful. I felt so comfortable with telling her what I liked and didn’t, and she did too which I was so grateful for. She also did my bridesmaids nails and make up too, aswell as the 8 or 9 massages that she did all one after the other on my hen day!
The other lovely thing about Karen is that because she is solely involved, she provides a personal yet highly professional service, and I’d definitely recommend her for a relaxing spa/hen day @ Desert Springs or for bridal make up. I will definately be visiting Karen again when I go back to Desert Springs/Terreros. I could never say how grateful I am to Karen for all her help.

Dear Karen and Jim
Just a quick note to say a huge thank you again for the tennis lessons and the massages... The boys had a great time; Warren and I too...
The service again has been second to none and we have had a great time yet again... even though we have been extremely lazy again... But I guess that’s what holidays are all about!
Thanks again

Here is what some of the Ryder Cup Players, who have played the Indiana Course at Desert Springs have had to say about it:
Ian Woosnam OBE
Ryder Cup 1983-1997, Winning Captain 2006, US PGA Masters Winner 1991, No 1 in World Golf Rankings 1991, World Match Play Winner 1987, 1990, 2001, World Cup, 1989, PGA Grand Slam of Golf, 1991, 29 European Tour Wins
"Having last been here in 2004, the first thing I noticed was how mature the landscaping had become. It's a course that provides you with a test for every shot you have in your bag. The course is in immaculate condition with greens of equal quality to those we play our own tour events on. If you want to hone your game, immaterial of what standard of golfer you are, then this is the place to come!"
Steve Richardson
Ryder Cup 1991, Alfred Dunhill Cup 1991 & Winner 1992, World Cup 1991 & 1992, Four Tours World Championship Winner 1991 & 1992
“Desert Springs is a very stimulating test of golf. It is a thinking mans course, not easy to overpower but one that requires excellent course management skills. I really enjoyed it and felt it tested my skills fully”.
Paul Way
Ryder Cup 1983 & Winner 1985, Dutch Open Champion 1982, British PGA Champion 1985, and European Open Champion 1987
“I actually found myself hitting my driver a lot at Desert Springs. It is a course that demands accuracy and thought but it does allow you to attack and make birdies. I found it a superb looking course and in top class international condition. It is a genuine test”.
Peter Baker
Ryder Cup 1993, Ryder Cup Vice Captain 2006, Alfred Dunhill Cup 1993 & 1998, World Cup 1998, Benson & Hedges International Open Champion 1988, Dunhill British Masters 1993
"
Loved the course; a proper shot making course. I made loads of birdies, which was great, but I got penalised for bad shots. That’s the way the best courses treat you. One of the most refreshing courses I’ve played in along time and one I look forward to re-visiting, I don’t think it would ever be boring”.

“Both throughout my playing career and after, I have been privileged to have been invited to participate in numerous golf events at some of the most luxurious locations all around the world.
Hosting your own event, in your own name, for the charity of which you are President can be a daunting task. Certain criteria have to be met by the host venue both for the celebrity guests and the amateurs.
Desert Springs as a venue offers my guests a relaxing ambience, a unique experience and an underlying overall charm. It has lots of quality facilities to enjoy besides world class golf. Its staff afford a warm welcome and unrivalled professional service
That is why my decision to host the Ian Botham Charity Golf Classic in aid of Leukaemia Research at Desert Springs in October 2008 was an easy one and due to its phenomenal success, why I have selected Desert Springs to host the final of my next Charity Golf Series.

There is nothing more welcome than an oasis in a desert and in several respects Desert Springs Resort and Golf Club is just like an oasis. For a start the lush fairways and perfect greens of the golf course contrast with the arid countryside all around. But in a country like Spain, where outstanding new developments can be hard to come by, Desert Springs is also an oasis of quality and excellence.
Desert Springs is a holiday resort, golf club, and residential development with plenty of personality. For all the right reasons it is not somewhere you can easily forget, nor confuse with any other new development in Spain. Any development that is unforgettable, and unmistakeable, in a positive sense, will always enjoy advantages over the mass of developments that aren’t. This is especially true from an investment point of view.
You know something is up when you first turn off the main road from Cuevas de Almanzora into Desert Springs. The slightly scruffy, rustic charm of the area gives way to a perfect infrastructure, and an immaculate landscape. Even an untrained eye can see that expensive, quality materials have been used for things like sidewalks and street lighting, and that the landscape is being carefully maintained. Such details are always a good sign, as they reveal a lot about the quality and values of the developer.
One of the reasons why Desert Springs is so unforgettable is because of the resort’s architecture and design. There is a wide choice of properties, but all of them are designed and built by the developer, which ensures a consistent architectural theme throughout the resort. As a result, Desert Springs has an attractive Spanish colonial architecture that suits the landscape perfectly. To compliment this romantic architecture, homes are finished in earthy colours, with rustic materials, and stylish wrought iron work details.

My municipality, Cuevas del Almanzora, has in recent years become well known far beyond its boundaries as a result of the fame and high profile that Desert Springs has conferred on it. This leisure resort, which has become recognised both nationally and internationally, is in reality one of the most enchanting locations that can be found in the region.
The great variety, which it offers, provides a perfect combination of sport and well being. And Desert Springs has much to offer; its unique desert golf course, its magnificent restaurants, its sports areas and in particular its very direct integration with the environment, which has made it such an inviting and welcoming place.
It is a place in which one can delight in the tranquillity and beauty of the surroundings. The visitor who gets to know all of its secret corners is taken with the elegant style of the place and with the enchantments that enfold the Resort itself.
Desert Springs has turned itself into a unique and exclusive tourist enclave; an ideal location to welcome and host all kinds of ceremonies in its unique surroundings. It is undoubtedly the case that a day spent at this residential leisure resort is both a complete and most pleasurable experience for those who are looking for the best in quality.

Hi Peter
Our Dream Home at Desert Springs!
Hope you are well and recovered from your long drive to Calais and back! We suffered similar problems having to drive down (26 hours door to door, 4 of us in Gina's convertible!), but just me and my son Ryan driving back with an overnight in Biarritz, while Gina and my daughter Bex flew home (cheats)!
Now that we have completed on the property and moved in I would like to tell you that we are absolutely 'over the moon' with our finished villa.
Your staff (Janet, Julia, Chris and Jim, not forgetting Freddie and Paul) have been a credit to the company and we really do feel that they have gone the 'extra mile' to get things right for us and fully satisfy our needs. From deposit to completion I really don't think it could have gone any smoother, a very professional and competent team!
I would like to point out in particular that Janet Mills (in spite of some health problems last year) has been an absolute star for us. The whole buying experience was made much more pleasurable with her regular photo updates and sometimes daily bulletins which held our attention and laughter throughout! She was always available when we needed her even on days off she would be on hand to answer any urgent queries we may have had.
Many thanks to you, Peter, for your continued help and advice.
We look forward to many happy years ahead being part of the Desert Springs 'family'.

It was nice to see you on Saturday.
I just wanted to say what a fantastic weekend we had. As always the service was first class. Even though we had told Gary how good it was, I think it surprised him just how spectacular the whole thing is.
Even when there are new members of staff they still know how to make visitors feel special. Please pass on my thanks to everyone at Desert Springs.
The house you put us in was perfect. I am not sure you could have picked a better location.
I have just e-mailed the others to see what dates they can do in June so hopefully I will be in touch soon to book the next trip.
I am delighted the sun is out so have just rearranged my flight from tomorrow to Thursday. Back to work next week after two months of leisure so I am making the most of it.
Thanks for looking after us.

Reporting on visit of BRYNE FK, the Norwegian first division football club for their pre-season training
On Friday 12th March I met with the Bryne F.K. manager, Tommy Bergersen, for an informal meeting on how he thought the trip had gone to get as much feedback as possible.
(J) Tommy your first visit to Desert Springs (Bryne’s second) – did you enjoy your stay?
(T) Yes we did everything about our stay was perfect.
(J) Was you accommodation up to standard?
(T) Yes the apartments were first class and nicely furnished making our stay here very comfortable.
(J) How was your dining experience in both restaurants?
(T) All the meals from breakfast to dinner were excellent and all our dietary requests were met.
(J) Were the staff friendly and helpful?
(T) The staff were all very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them, including you of course Jim.
(J) Did the football pitch meet your expectations?
(T) The pitch was fantastic I have to say and the whole squad agrees it is the best surface they have ever played on. In Norway 70% of football pitches are Astroturf so it was a treat to have a perfect playing surface on grass.
(J) How did you find the rest of the Sierra Club sports facilities?
(T) Excellent a few of the players used the gym which is very well equipped.
(J) Did you use any of the other facilities during your stay?
(T) Not on this trip because we did not have enough time. However next year we would like to come back for a week to take full advantage of the resort and even play a round of golf on your wonderful looking course.
(J) Is there anything we could have done to improve your stay at Desert Springs?
(T) No the whole trip was perfect and being the first time here I was interested to see how good it was because the players that were here last year had such a good time. They did not want to go anywhere else and now I know why and agree.
(J) So therefore can we expect that you will be returning to Desert Springs?
(T) Yes as I said earlier we would like to come back and for a week next year finances permitting.
(J) Can you think of anyone you could recommend Desert Springs to?
(T) Yes and I think it would be beneficial to get in touch with all the league clubs in Norway to invite them out to see your facilities here. You can use me for any personal recommendations.
(J) Could you please sum up a description of your training camp stay at Desert Springs for our website?
(T) Yes I would say that Desert Springs is the perfect place to hold football training camps. Everything about the resort is first class from the relaxing ambience, the food being perfect, accommodation very good to the football pitch which was excellent. At La Manga everything is rushed and we have to queue for all our meals. There we have one hour on the pitch at a time and we have to wait for the team before us to finish. There is always a team waiting for us to finish too so after two or three days you feel stressed and tired. This is the complete opposite to how we feel at Desert Springs. At Desert Springs with the first class service and attention to detail we are leaving feeling refreshed as you do a first class job here. The one thing you will need to have to be careful of is maintaining the standard when you have more teams coming here for training which I’m sure you will have. Eventually you will need more pitches to accommodate the additional teams train
ing here too.

Reporting on visit of HONEFOSS BK, the Norwegian Premier Division football club for their pre-season training
On Friday 26th February, I met with the manager for an informal meeting on how he thought the trip had gone in order to get as much feedback as possible.
Your first time here. Have you enjoyed your stay at Desert Springs?
“Yes very much everything was perfect.”
Was your accommodation up to standard?
“The apartments were excellent.”
How was your dining experience in both restaurants?
“Very good the food was great.”
Were the staff friendly and helpful in the restaurants?
“The staff were fantastic; you should congratulate everyone from the kitchen to yourself.
They could not have been more helpful.”
Did the football pitch & changing room meet your expectations?
“The pitch was perfect one of the best we have played on.”
How did you find the rest of the Sierra Club sports facilities?
“The players enjoyed having the mountain bikes.”
Did you use any of the other facilities during your stay?
“Not myself.”
Is there anything we could have done to improve your stay at Desert Springs?
“No apart from goalposts with wheels, for easier movement, due to the fact we play a lot of 4 aside on ½ pitches. Also it would have been useful to have an electric pump for the balls.”
Would you return to Desert Springs for future camps?
“Yes definitely.”
Can you think of anyone I can contact regarding camps?
“You should check out Norwegian papers. They have all the websites of the clubs and you can use me for personal recommendations.”
Additional comments:
“Desert Springs is a lot higher standard than La Manga.”
“The games room was very popular with the players at night.”
“The sauna/Jacuzzi was used a lot.”
“There have been a couple of editorials in the Norwegian press about their stay at Desert Springs. I am liaising with a reporter to try and get some information for our website.”
“There has been a property inspection from the trip”
“They have enjoyed their stay so much they are asking price for next January.”

Subject: Thank You!
Hi Tania,
I just wanted to drop you a line to say a huge thank-you for our holiday in Desert Springs. How lovely it was to enjoy some warm winter sunshine - and what a shock to return to the cold back in the UK!
Desert Springs Resort was a welcome retreat and we both felt that the resort has been very well planned and laid out - the landscaping is first class and Joel's cacti were amazing. What an interesting man he is, you are certainly very lucky to have such an expert to hand. We both enjoyed meeting him and now look forward to reading some of Joel's books. Could you please pass on our thanks to Elvira, Carmen, Karen and Paul, as well as to the staff at both The Lodge and the Crocodile Club, who all made us feel very welcome.
As well as relaxing at Desert Springs we also enjoyed exploring the local area and the wider area, with the dramatic backdrop of the Sierra de los Filabres and Sierra Nevada mountains further afield. I'm so pleased that we managed to get in the trip to the Alhambra, having studied its influence on the development of English gardens on my university course last year.
We will certainly be recommending Desert Springs to our friends and family and hope to return some time in the future.

Thanks again, with warmest wishes,

I just wanted to thank you both for your help and organization for our short stay last weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Desert Springs as always. I would like to mention certain members of staff, who made us feel very welcome and made the extra effort to make our trip more special. They are Nick and Tom from the Caddy masters facilityThey really were excellent and epitomized everything Desert Springs is about.
This was my 12th visit to Desert Springs and I was concerned that in the current climate standards may have inevitably slipped. This was definitely NOT the case. Although, the number of staff did not seem as high this was not noticed in the level of service.
Once again thank you for a good trip. Please pass on our gratitude to Nick and Tom especially.

I wish to put on record my sincere thanks to everyone at Desert Springs Family Resort & Golf Club for their sponsorship of the Desert Springs "Golf 4 Women" Salver tournament.
For the last two years every detail has been simply the best that anyone could ask for in a golf resort.
All the facilities that Christine organised for the finalists could not be faulted, and the golf course was a true test of golf for the players.

On the occasion of the final of The Bader Ladies Salver Tournament
Once again Desert Springs has provided a magnificent venue for the final of The Bader Ladies Salver Tournament.
Sadly the passage of time has made it impossible for me to attend in person but I have heard from John Southwick our Tournament Director that 2009 was as good if not better than 2008! I am advised that the facilities, accommodation and condition of the course are second to none and I believe too that the attention of the staff was first class and that, in particular, Chris Langford, who was very much involved with the organisation, was outstanding.
You are no doubt aware that 2010 marks the centenary of my late husbands' birth. In celebration the Foundation will in February be launching a brand new project, Bader Braves, which is a challenge/support programme for disabled children and their families and it is towards this project that the funds raised through the golf tournament will be applied. In no small way has the contribution of Desert Springs towards the success of the Ladies Salver played its part and we are, as ever, indebted to you and your fantastic team for making it possible.
With my very best regards and sincerest gratitude,
Yours sincerely,

Desert Springs is renowned for its helpful and pleasant staff. But I suspect that by and large you hear more on the complaining side than the complementary side of things - such is human nature.

We had a tremendous time at the resort. The weather was fantastic and the facilities matched it. The food on site was high standard too and we all enjoyed the meals greatly. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful - especially the British staff at the Crocodile Club and at the clubhouse and restaurant. Nick and Lewis at the Caddymaster shack were especially welcoming and friendly. Please pass on our thanks to them for adding to the enjoyment of our short stay.
The course itself was in great order and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We all intend coming back at some point in the near future (probably with families in tow!)
I have recommended a trip to the course to a group of friends who are going to La Manga later in the year. I feel it would be well worth the drive through to experience the course - can you tell me if there are any deals available on green fees only?
Finally, thanks very much for your help from the start of the booking process. The service received has been very attentive from start to finish and is much appreciated. I will definitely be back at Desert Springs soon.

do you a quick mail. Went to the Croc Club 4 times and thought the new menu was very good, fairly priced and, most importantly, was presented well with good tastes.
We were also at the dinner following the Captain's Drive-in golf round and
once again found the food at the Clubhouse to be excellent. A simple menu
but well executed. In that respect could you get me the recipe for the
"Raspberry Panacotta" dessert, I am doing a dinner party for 12 back in
England in September for my 65th and would like to have that dessert which
was very light and refreshing. Hope this will be possible with Steve Pegg.
We will be out again next week on the 29th April for about 10 days so
hopefully will see you then but perhaps I'll hear from you in the meantime.
Kind regards,
David and Yvonne Barrows

PS Sad you have lost Kate and with Anna going, we have
lost 2 very good staff!! Cest la vie et bonne chance!!!

Good Afternoon Jo,
We're home from our holiday at Desert Springs. We had an absolute wonderful time and can't wait to go back. Our accommodations were top off the line and ALL of the staff members should be commended for their efforts. Everyone was friendly and willing.
Our only complaint is the weather on our return to England.
Looking forward to our future booking!

Dear Jo
We had a lovely break, thank you very much. We thought the golf course was spectacular, in superb condition and very pretty, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was not too busy, so we were able to get round more or less at our own pace. All the staff and also some of the local residents were very friendly which created a good atmosphere off the course. We thought the main restaurant in particular was excellent and our accommodation was clean and comfortable (apart possibly from the pillows which were a bit hard!) All in all we thought it was really good value for money and would definitely recommend it to our golfing friends who have not been there, (although several of them had and recommended it to us!)

Dear Alfonso
Thank you so much for your marvellous tuition last week and for your company during our two rounds of golf.
I really appreciate the time you spent trying to turn me into a halfway decent golfer. I played 18 holes at my local course yesterday, managed a par at a par 5 and a birdie at the par-4 tenth, helped by a member's bounce off a tree overlooking the green (my luck is still holding, evidently). We won't talk about the other 16 but I feel I understand much better what I should be doing.
I hope you have a great summer and that Desert Springs goes from strength to strength.
Many thanks again and best wishes

Hi Jo
Yes, we had a wonderful few days at Desert Springs and the weather was very good. As you may know I work at La Cala Resort on the Costa del Sol and was anxious to see how other clubs do it. We thought that the staff in particular were extremely kind and helpful. We have already recommended Desert Springs to some of our friends as the whole package was excellent.
Your resort is so different from where I work that it was a nice change to have someone serve me! The food in the clubhouse was first class and we really couldn't fault anything except our golf!
Good luck to all concerned and thanks for an excellent break. Please let us know if there are any other offers as we might go again!

Hello Jo,
I hope you are well. Just a quick note to let you know how our trip, Feb 22 to 25, to Desert Springs Resort went.
This was truly a magnificent experience for us all, we were all very impressed with the attitude of the staff on site and with the facilities available to us while we were there. You can rest assured that we will be looking to travel to the resort again next year about the same time as this, but with a few more people in our numbers (hopefully about 20). If and when you know of your price tariff for the same dates as this year please do not hesitate to let me know.
Once again thanks for your help in organising our trip and i look forward to speaking to you again in the near future to organise a return trip to your wonderful resort.

Hi Carmen
Following our recent visit to Desert Springs, I would like to thank you and everyone involved in making our stay such an enjoyable experience.
The range, chipping area and putting green are in excellent condition and along with the use of the GASP studio and a lot of hard work the lads have honed their games for the season ahead.
The course is in fantastic condition with excellent greens, which was a bit of a shock to the system after a long English winter.
The food was first class both at the Golf Club and the Crocodile Club and everyone at Desert Springs looked after us with a smile on their face.
A final thank you to everyone and hopefully we will see you again next year.

Dear Alfonso
Thank you for your email.
The trip to Desert Springs was very productive. The mild climate was conducive to productive practice, when our climate at home is cold. The resort has fantastic facilities, all within walking distance. We had no need to hire a bus, even the transfers from the airport were arranged by the resort. Maria del Mar Sanchez was extremely helpful with organising the whole trip from the accommodation to all our golf and fitness requirements. The staff at the resort were helpful and hospitable. The Golf Academy always had the range prepared ready for our use each morning.
We are looking forward to our next training weekend in February and hopefully it will be as successful as the first.

As you are probably aware, it was not possible for me to attend the 2008 final The Desert Springs "Golf4Women" Salver which was recently held at your splendid venue. However, I have received reports from Toumament Director, John Southwick and our Director, Keith Delderfield who represented the charity in my absence, informing me as to just what a great success the event has been.
From what 1hear and from the literature that 1have received, it is clear the Desert Springs is a really magnificent resort and provided a first class venue for the final. I gather from feedback that, in particular, the course was in first class condition and that its presentation was "stunning" and that the contribution and professionalism of Christine Langford along with the friendly attitude and helpfulness of all ofthe Desert Springs staff was second to none and I congratulate those responsible for gathering together what is obviously a very special team.
On behalf of everyone at The Douglas Bader Foundation I offer you my sincerest thanks for the most generous support you have provided ensuring that our event has been such a great success and I am delighted and grateful to leam that the 2009 event is again to be played at your first class resort.

I am aware that you have received a message of gratitude from John Southwick, Tournament Director of The Desert Springs “Golf4Women” Salver, following the recent staging of the very successful final at your wonderful Desert Springs Resort and Golf Club. I felt that after having receiving John’s report and the of Charity Director, Keith Delderfield, who represented our charity in my absence, I must write to express on behalf of everyone at The Douglas Bader Foundation, my sincerest gratitude for your most generous support.
Clearly it was a superb event and one greatly enjoyed by every one of the participants. From the comments that I have received it is clear the whole Desert Springs team is worthy of praise but, in particular, it appears that special mention and thanks are due to Christine Langford who made sure that everyone was so well looked after and ensured that the competition was so well presented; to the course staff for preparing such a great and challenging track for our final and, indeed, to the whole staff team, each of whom played a role in making everybody’s stay such a happy and memorable one. We are indebted to you all.
I am grateful and delighted to learn that your kind support is to continue for 2009 and hope I may at some point have the opportunity of thanking you personally.

In association with The Douglas Bader Foundation
As Tournament Director of the Desert Springs 'Golf 4 Women' Salver I wish to put on record my appreciation to everyone at Desert Springs especially Christine Langford who made the final of the event a huge success.
The golf course was indeed a challenge to all the lady finalists, but the course was in excellent condition as were all the facilities that everyone enjoyed. Everyone of the Desert Springs staff looked after our every need and I found the resort and staff to be of the highest standard, that I have experienced during my travels around the world.
I feel sure that the lady finalists who competed will convey to their golf club members the excellence of Desert Springs Resort when they return home. From my point of view I feel that this is the best form of advertising ("word of mouth"). Keith Delderfield of the Douglas Bader Foundation who attended the event will be reporting back to Lady Bader OBE the President of the Foundation, and I feel sure that you will be receiving a letter from her in due course.
inally with the success and the forthcoming publicity I feel that this tournament will grow from strength to strength and will not only help the Foundation but also the Desert Springs Resort in 2009.

We have just returned home this weekend after a week at the Desert Springs Golf Resort in Southern Spain and we felt that we would like to write to you to express how much we appreciated the hospitality that was shown to us by all the staff and residents.
We thought that the accommodation was excellent (a townhouse near the practice ground of the golf course) and the kindness and care accorded to us during our stay was first class. We cannot speak highly enough of Christine Langford, whose thoughtfulness and meticulous attention to detail ensured that we enjoyed all aspects of our stay at the resort. Her efforts, which were way above and beyond those we are sure of her general remit, guaranteed that we were made to feel like VIPs during our stay. We certainly took full advantage during the week of being coached by such a prestigious player. Generally we thought that the golf course and facilities at the Golf Academy were excellent. All the staff, whether it was in the restaurants, on reception or at the Caddy Master’s Centre could not do enough for us.
When you are working all year, holiday time is precious and we feel that our week at Desert Springs was spent very wisely. We are certainly considering returning to the resort next year and we will be recommending it to our golfing companions around Wirral and the North West area.

Hi Jim,
Sorry it has taken a while for me to get around to sending this note but I have been pretty busy since we got back. The Stanford T20 match in Antigua and the Tour of India are just around the corner so there is plenty to do and my feet have hardly touched the floor!
Thank you for all you did for us Jim, you went to a lot of trouble on our behalf and we really appreciated it. Chris and I enjoyed catching up with you again and, despite the weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our break.
Also, if you would be kind enough, I would ask you to please pass on our thanks to everyone at Desert Springs, in particular, Simon, Daniel, Christina, Paul, Joel, Alfonso and Karen, for hosting us so generously and for ensuring that we had an entertaining and relaxing holiday. I know everyone was busy but so many of them took time out to show us around and interact with us.
We felt that there was a really good feeling about the Resort, that the quality of all the properties was exceptional and found the townhouse we used to be extremely comfortable.
I wish you continued success in getting some football teams out to Desert Springs. It seems to have done Shrewsbury some good and you certainly have the potential to add to your facilities and extend your client base in this area. I guess you will all be busy gearing up for the Ian Botham Charity Golf day. I wish you all every success with that and the continued development of Desert Springs. We were amazed by the scale of the project and look forward to visiting again at some time in the future to see how it has progressed.

From: Paul Simpson, Shrewsbury Town FC Coach, on the conclusion of their Club’s fist warm weather pre season training camp at Desert Springs.
Date: July 2008
Paul Simpson, Shrewsbury Town FC Coach commented:
“When I arrived at Desert Springs it was a fantastic facility, that was the first thing that struck me. Everything about it looked to me as if it could be perfect for a pre-season training camp, and I have to say being here as well and the work that we have done, we haven’t been disappointed! It’s been excellent in everything they have done for us.
When I came here to view the facilities in May I quickly realised that there was everything here that you could use for pre-season to make the training varied and it has been excellent, it really has. The surface on the football pitch is as good as any that you will get in England and the gym facilities are excellent. There are mountain bikes, there is everything here that you can have a full week, probably even two weeks of varied training, but unfortunately we only had four days!
I think the players have been really surprised with the standard of the accommodation, they are luxury and there is everything in there you could possibly need and there’s the facilities if they wanted to make themselves a drink in the rooms. There are facilities if they had to wash there own kit, everything is there for them and I think they have been very, very pleasantly surprised by it.”
Ben Davis, Shrewsbury Town FC Captain added:
“It’s been a brilliant stay for us; the lads have all absolutely loved it. Training has been really hard but we have got through it all and the facilities have been great for us so it has been a great chance for us to come away and get some team bonding together.
The football pitch is spot on and the way it has been kept over the few days we have been here has been excellent with the heat and everything, and the surface has been ideal for us. With the three sessions it’s needed to be and it has held up very well for us.
The fact that we have been able to train outside has been brilliant for us. We have had three sessions; at seven o’clock in the morning and one as well at night as well as the afternoon one and they have all been spot on and the weather has been lovely and it has helped everyone to get outside and get a tan as well! It makes a difference from it raining always back at home.
Everyone leaves you alone and lets you get on with it, and all the lads stay together and you get no hassle form anyone and you can just concentrate on your training and getting everything together and ready for when you go back for the start of the season.”
Michael Jackson, Shrewsbury Town FC Defender added:
“It has been exactly what we needed. The accommodation, facilities and training pitch has been excellent for what you need for this sort of thing you are trying to achieve. I have been on quite a few trips before and never one as good as this, so it’s been excellent.’
The football pitch has been great, when you are training three times a day it needs to be right and it has. With the weather you get here you would think it would be absolutely as dry as a bone, but it’s not, it’s been really good and it’s been a pleasure to play on it to be honest.”

Just thought I would drop you a line
We have just arrived home from our house at Desert Springs and our children are still buzzing about the great time had by all. The children attended the children’s club provided by the Crocodile Club every day for 2 hours and thoroughly enjoyed their time.
Nick provided great fun for the children and has a really charming manner with them. The children are still talking about the fun games and not to mention many hours of football organised by Nick. Of course, we really appreciated the time too!!
Nick always had time for the children even when they managed to find him outside his normal working hours! I know that other parents were also impressed by Nick's enthusiasm to provide a fun time for the children and am happy that it is continuing and is something to look forward to during our next stay in May.

We were met by Maria del Mar who kindly took us to our apartment with a very welcome bottle of bubbly suitable cooled in the fridge, many thanks. Thanks also for the beautiful meal at El Torrente, ably waited on by Ellie, as she also did most mornings at breakfast.
Peter Goodall also came to meet us one morning which I am sure was beyond the call of duty; with each member of staff we met we learned more about Desert Springs. They must all have dreaded the Forrest's arrival!!
The views are stunning, and we could see in all directions from our apartmnent. I don't think we did justice to the golf course, but I am sure we did our bit in the Crocodile Club! The Crocodile Club is a most amazing set up, the whole concept, suited to both young and old, from the bar itself to all the African input. Everyone was so friendly, both staff and residents; we played golf one day with Laurie and Betty Meldrum, who we had met previously in the club.
Hopefully we'll go back to Desert Springs again next year, and maybe even take some friends, as we both so enjoyed the experience. It was good of you to keep in contact with us while we were there.
Many many thanks for everything. We will be your Scottish Ambasadors!!

On behalf of the Norfolk County Golf Union squad I would like to thank everyone at Desert Springs following our first warm weather training camp.
We found Desert Springs to be a perfect venue as the practise facilities are first class and the Indiana Course is a great test which quickly lets the players and coach see any weaknesses.
One the great things about staying on site was that there were few distractions and we found that the combination of this and the great facilities meant the players were fully focused on their golf.
The Crocodile club and the Club House looked after us very well throughout our stay and our accommodation was perfect and gave the players a bit of space if they wanted it.
We look forward to seeing you again next year when hopefully we will return with a larger group.

Dear Simon,
I wish to thank you for all of your help and the collaboration afforded to us during the hosting of the 'Copa del Rey' last week. I believe that Desert Springs achieved the highest standards of the great golf clubs in all aspects.
I also want to congratulate you and Anthony, the course superintendent, for the magnificent condition of the golf course and its presentation. All the participants and officials were astonished by the condition and presentation of the course, which has gone on improving over the years.
Furthermore, I want to congratulate you for the superb team of personnel that you have managed to gather together. Both the girls from the Administration Office (Lina, Carmen & Mª del Mar) and the girls from Reception (Silvia, Maria & Dolores) were super and disposed to help with everything that was required. The Bar and Restaurant was also managed in a very professional way. At the caddy master, the driving range and the start, everything was very well organised by Victor and Nick.
In short, I think that the Championship has been a success as well as a good International showcase for Desert Springs, which I hope, will continue to contribute even further to the development of this part of Spain.
Suffice it to say that I look forward to returning soon. I want to reiterate my congratulations as well as my utmost and sincere thanks for all of your collaboration.

Hi Kristina,
Just thought I would drop you a line
Thank you and best wishes.
